Utility-Scale Solar Construction | EPC Contractor
Need Solar is a full-turnkey utility-scale solar EPC contractor. We deliver large ground-mounted photovoltaic power plants from 10 MW to 200 MW for independent power producers, utilities, infrastructure funds, and corporate off-takers across the United States and Europe. Every project is delivered under a single bankable EPC contract with cost certainty, schedule guarantees, and long-term performance warranties.
From the first feasibility study to grid energization, our in-house team of solar engineers, procurement specialists, civil contractors, and electrical installers handles every interface so that you carry one accountable partner — not a fragmented stack of subcontractors. The result: faster mechanical completion, fewer change orders, and assets that hit their P50 production targets in year one.
Engineering for Bankable Utility-Scale Solar
Utility-scale solar projects live or die on engineering quality. Our PE-stamped engineering team produces the full design package — site layouts, single-line diagrams, DC and AC string sizing, inverter and transformer selection, MV collection system, SCADA architecture, geotechnical-driven foundation design, grading and drainage plans, and grid interconnection studies. We design to lender technical advisor standards so financing reviews go quickly and clean.
We model every project in PVsyst with site-specific irradiance, soiling, shading, and thermal losses. We do not over-promise yield. The number we put in the EPC contract is the number we engineer to.
Procurement & Tier-1 Equipment
We procure exclusively from Tier-1 module and inverter manufacturers — Trina, Jinko, Longi, JA Solar, Sungrow, Power Electronics, SMA, and similar — with allocation contracts that lock pricing and delivery against your construction schedule. Trackers, transformers, MV switchgear, combiner boxes, and BoS components are sourced through the same disciplined supply chain.
For US projects we maintain domestic content qualification pathways under the Inflation Reduction Act so qualifying projects can capture the additional 10% ITC adder. Tariff exposure (AD/CVD, UFLPA, Section 201) is managed through our trade compliance team.
Construction, Commissioning & Grid Interconnection
Our self-perform construction crews handle pile driving, racking and tracker installation, module mounting, DC and AC wiring, MV collection, inverter pad installation, and substation tie-in. We mobilize with our own equipment fleets in the US Sunbelt and across continental Europe, which keeps schedules predictable and quality consistent. Site safety is OSHA 30 / NEBOSH led with a documented zero-incident goal on every project.
Commissioning includes IV curve tracing, thermography, end-to-end SCADA validation, and witnessed performance testing tied to liquidated damages. We coordinate directly with the utility for parallel operation, PPA conditions precedent, and final interconnection.
